Shell energy
Recently I moved to Shell via a cold caller at my door for over 1+ hours, He convinced me I was paying too much and at £65 duel fuel.. So £54 a month sounded great.. I said will my payments go up with rise he said no he calculated that and so long as I don't use excessive Electricity it will stay or maybe go up a little.. So 2 months in with Shell energy I checked the site they are more costly and want me to pay £80 a month, I have been beside myself with worry as I cannot use less Electricity if I tried.. I use energy efficient bulbs and sit all day with just a laptop no tv till mid/late afternoon.. the 3 constant items on are my sons tv energy saving and computer.. and fridge freezer.. we have various appliances that get used like hoover washer etc. but not every day.. PS5 again energy saving on for a few hours on and off.. but they all do not take up that much electricity... My smart meter though I'm told by shell representative this has no baring on it.. Now goes in the red at £1.25 where as before it had to be around £2.70 before it touched red markers. Also it turns out Shell energy KWH is not dissimilar to that of my previous supplier so I should not have been nagged to change supplier I was very much mis sold this energy.. and if that is the case why are they between £15 and £20 + more expensive ?? AT WHAT POINT DO THESE RISES STOP?? There is no way I can pay £80 a month and I have seen their projected targets and tariffs the cheapest being £129 a month... I am scared for my future and those that are on low income.

Oh dear. What you pay each month is irrelevant. What matters is the tariff that you have signed up to and the amount of energy that you use per year.I assume that you are looking at the In House Display? You need to go into the Account Information in the menu and check that Shell is the nominated supplier. You should also see the tariff information that has been sent to your meters. Don’t worry if this has not been updated by Shell as the IHD information is not used for billing. Tell us what has been set and does this agree with the tariff that you signed up to? If you post your opening readings/date when you switched; the meter readings now and the tariff with prices that you are on, someone will be able to calculate the actual cost of energy used.
Sadly, there is little that any Government can do to change the wholesale price of energy. There have been significant increases in wholesale prices over the past 12 months. I feel for you and others who are struggling.0
