oh, btw....can you believe this?
"sorry Mrs A we cant open you an account.........Mrs A can we interest you in home insurance?"
so, they couldnt help with the product Mum actually wanted, but the same rep had the cheek to try and sell (more expensive) home insurance.
disgusting & a sign of trying to exploit her i think. Mum actually made an appointment specifically for the application for a Bank account and they tried to sell insurance. i will be going with her next time for sure.0 -

Or, if she only uses Tesco's why doesn't she open a 'Clubcard Plus' account with Tesco.... she can DD over £500 each month for her groceries AND get double points on her shopping... it isn't a 'bank account as such - but from the sounds of it would be ideal?!
Paula.... if you don't like what I say, then don't listen....

Hello, Just to say, from experience of DH and me (we're both 72) it won't be anything to do with age. There is now legislation in place about age discrimination in the provision of goods and services.
I have a Smile (co-op) current a/c and it came with a debit card as standard. DH has a RBoS current a/c and we also have a RBoS joint a/c which we keep just for payment of monthly household bills.
It's frightening the amount of credit we have available between us. I have £1000 each on Smile Visa, the only one I use and pay off monthly, £1000 on Virgin and £4,500 on Egg. DH has a lot more. We both pay off credit card balances religiously every month. The banks appear to be quite happy with all this. So it's nothing to do with age.
Wouldn't it be easier for your Mum to do her own online Tesco shop? Especially as most of it will go on to 'favourites' i.e. you've bought it before, so only a question of ordering the same things again.
DH is just about to tackle Tesco in person - sooner him than me! I'm still not up to it, gynae surgery was just 14 days ago. Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
