Mastercard duplicate pending payments glitch?

Has anyone else noticed duplicate pending transactions on their Mastercard credit/debit cards today?  I have made three transactions over the weekend, with two different merchants (Ebay and Airbnb) and two different cards/banks (Halifax Clarity Credit and Virgin Money Debit).  All three transactions have resulted in duplicate pending charges (i.e. six in total).  The only common factor is that they are both mastercards so my assumption is that it’s their issue rather than the banks.

Each duplicate has the same reference ax the original so they should be easy to challenge should they not drop off automatically, but the available balance is reduced in the meantime…

  • I did have one yesterday but has already vanished, was a Lloyds mastercard. Payment I made yesterday is still pending so not duplicated yet

Might not be mastercard. Might be that retailers all use same merchant bank. And someone has run a tape twice. Happens a lot....
