Engineered wood - underlay.

As I have a few jobs under planning, my other half has decided to get new flooring in living room and same into the kitchen. When I fitted an axminster carpet, I bought 2 rolls of  Tredaire Colours Red 135lb Carpet Underlay | Trade Priced Carpet Underlay. I'm reluctant to bin this due to suitability. Is there any chance I could reuse this underlay with engineerfed wooden flooring or is therfe no chance of this working?

I've just done my lounge and all the research I did suggested that cork or foam was the 'best' I went for foam with a foil moisture barrier as I was laying over concrete. Given the price of underlay relative to the flooring, I'd go for new underlay. The carpet underlay looks like it will have too much give and flex
  • It's not suitable, Carpet yes. Laminate no.

You need something that is more stable for it to sit on, Could you reuse it anywhere else in the house, Stairs perhaps ?
  • I'm sure my builders used this stuff under my engineered wood floor; at <£15/7sqm it's not gonna be breaking any banks.

I have Cush n Wood underlay under mine, not sure if it's still available.
  • Sorry folks, was unaware of replies.
My existing underlay wont be able to be reused.
Just need to ditch it (that'll stick on my craw).

May have to rethink engineered wood due to laying the new stuff into the kitchen, it won't be suitable due to the step caused by thickness difference. Looks like it may be laminate for living rm and kitchen.

Any of you kind folks recommend a descent laminate?

I wouldn't recommend any laminate tbh. As you're planning on going into the kitchen then I'd go for LVT.

I like tiles in wet areas and that's a view I'm sticking to.
