everyone arriving into the UK (from outside the common travel area) requires a test in the 3 days before arrival. It does not need to be a PCR test
You will find the information here - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england
A test is not required for travel TO Spain if you are vaccinated

    advises you do

The important word is  advises, not requires.

We are just doing our lateral flows now to come back from Majorca. Not expecting any problems at all!
  • Hi @MoJoeGo We are in a similar situation, flying back from Tenerife with Ryanair - not sure whether to arrange PCR or lateral flows. Did you have any problems with your lateral flow tests? Who did you fly with?
    Many thanks
  • Does anyone have any update to this thread? We're travelling back on 9th October and worried that of we take an antigen test won't be allowed on the plane under current advice. Has anyone travelled recently with a lateral flow test and had no problems. We're flying easyjet
  • You only need an antigen test before returning to the UK, I have a friend who had one in Spain before returning here a couple of weeks ago. It has to be certified though, you can't just take a free NHS one with you.
  • Yes, find a local provider who offers a lateral flow test but make sure you get the negative (hopefully) results certificate because you WILL be asked for it. The Government has advised that it prefers a PCR test but it is not mandatory.

I got a test locally in resort for €20 , printed out for ease.

Most tourist resorts have clinics that do them

Apparently only 0.05 % of all tests are positive

you can purchase lateral flow tests to take out with you ,then scan in the results to be verified by an "expert" back in the UK. A complete nonsense as you could have tested the cat and no one would know. Apart from you and the cat.
That's what we are going to do next month and we don't even have a cat.
