Help with Multicar insurance

Options
We have a multicar policy with Admiral which started a few weeks ago, 1 car is registered to me and I am the policyholder but the main driver is my husband and I am a named driver, 2nd car is registered to my husband and he is the policyholder but I am the main driver and he is a named driver, this was because my car is the older car and as my husband now travels further for work it made sense for him to use the older car.  We have just purchased another car and traded in the older car (my car) so now the newer car is registered to me and I am the policyholder however my husband is still down as the main driver but I am now the main driver of the newer car and he is the main driver of his car.  I contacted Admiral and they have told me I can't change the main drivers mid policy and to leave things as they stand but I don't know if this is right, I always thought you had to inform insurers if things changed.  Basically he uses his car for getting to work now and I use my new car for getting to and from work, we are both the same age with no points or convictions but my husband has over 9 years NCB and I have 3 years as we have only had 2 cars in the last few years.  Should we just leave all as is, my only fear is if one of us had an accident would the insurer question why the other was driving (we will probably still drive each others cars).  Any help and advice appreciated.

If you have a record of contacting Admiral and informing them of the change but they have said it doesn't matter then I think you have fulfilled your requirement to let them know. If they said they don't need to take any action then that's down to them. Was their response in writing?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Note down the date and time as specifically as you can so that if there is any problem it can be found in the call recordings.  Did you also get the assistant's name?

Insurers care who the main driver is when there is a material difference in the risk pattern between the named persons so if you were married to a toy boy who'd only just got their license back after totting up of speeding tickets/DD etc then they'd care... husbands/wifes who are similar ages, backgrounds etc they wont care.

Not all insurers have the concept of a "main driver" as an independent thing from the policyholder... from what Admiral have said I'd guess that to make him the main driver they have to make him th epolicyholder and its normal not to allow policyholder changes mid term.
