Old Style Daily Monday 30 August 2021

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks. My day yesterday was fairly productive, I'm slowly clearing out more stuff just doing it in small bursts of activity. I visited two neighbours, one to collect a very tasty home-made french onion tart and the other to deliver a book. Neither visit took long as I had put the oven on before leaving so that the tart could warm up quickly. This morning the gardener is due as is the cleaner. I'll strip the bed soon, get the linen in the machine and the bed ready for the mattress to be turned. Heady days indeed! Sun is not forecasted for today but neither is rain, small blessings.Happy Monday to all.11

Morning All
Overcast this morning, there was a bit of misty drizzle when I went for a walk. Still warm enough but very dark when I got up.
Washing all up to date, just one thing to iron but I'm not putting the ironing board up for that so it can wait.
Hope Ruby arrived safely and is enjoying some sand and sunshine, hopefully dp1 is having a good time with her DD.
Monday morning again, lots to do at work so had better get moving. Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX9 -
Morning folks and thanks for starting GERS. Similar forecast here - no sun but no rain either. A re-run of yesterday by the sound of it.
My Slothful Sunday wasn't entirely slothful, I did manage to get the ironing done but not much else. DD and the 2 youngest DGDs called on their way to the van, bearing gifts they had brought me back from Ullswater. (A most delicious lemon cake and a bottle of Bakewell Gin Liqueur which I am trying not to open yet!) I was shown photos of all the activities they had done, as well as dozens of wedding pics. It had been a wonderful, if expensive, week by the sound of it.
Today I must get off my arris and attempt to tidy up the front garden. Loads of cutting back to do and more weeds to get rid of but it will have to be done in stages, as my legs won't let me do it all in one go sadly.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. And hoping the holidaymakers are having a lovely escape. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, cloudy and damp underfoot from some light rain during the night, air feels cool though.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and ok.
Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, very nice it was too, some LO's.
Chilled day today, back to work tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all; still dull and looks drizzly out there.
I haven't got going yet today. Yesterday we had four of us playing tunes for a couple of hours in the park; very enjoyable and we had a few people wander over to see what was going on. Today I'm at a village fete so need to get on the road late morning. Afterwards we've been invited back to someone's garden for tea and cakes so I haven't organised anything for dinner!
Still taking plums off the tree and giving them to people. We're away at the weekend so I want to pick as many as I can before then.
Enjoy your BH Monday one and all.10 -
Hi everyone,
I have got a fairly mild head cold, caught from Laura who has had it worse, probably because she is a bit run down. She has had two negative PCR tests as has Brian who has also now got it. Esben has it as well but they have only tested him once (also negative) so we're pretty sure it's just a cold. Just as well as we are going up to the Yorkshire house on Wednesday for a few days. We have friends coming on Friday for the weekend, we haven't seen them for two years apart from on Facetime so we will have lots to catch up on.
It's very grey out there today but at least it's not raining. I want to clean all the bathrooms and go over the living room as well as making sure the washing is up to date.
Have a good day all.10 -
Morning, hugs if you need one, its a bit brrrr this morning.
No cleaner this week she is away, so I will push the Gtec over the carpets and throw the duster at the dust might even wash the wet room floor. Otherwise I need ro take things a bit slower.......Driving 2 days on the trot is exhausting. I am glad we went.
Enjoyable lunch with SS, baby and Louise's mum, it was good to see them on their own rather than a hurried conversation in the midst of all the chaos on Saturday. Apparently there was a bad smash on the northbound M1 and two of the grandchildren, with cars full of tired children were stuck for several hours whilst it was cleared up.
Will do a freezer dive for supper, it might well be a WF foods supper.8 -
