Quote 1-  to remove old lawn and weeds, level with new top soil and to lay new turf only. 

Total- £3,305

Quote 2-  same as quote 1 with mulch beds added down either side of the garden.

Total- £4,000

Quote 3- same as quote 1 but with wooden edgings down either side and mulch bedding. 

Total- £4,600

Quote 4- same as quote 1 but with concrete edgings and mulch bedding. 

Total- £5,045 

My garden is 45 metre square.  Is this
a decent quote

It depends on your location. But as a gardener I can tell you that just for materials turf & topsoil you are looking at £800. But then they have to use/hire turf lifter & get rid of the waste + get the topsoil & grass delivered. Plus if they are a landscaping company they will have higher overheads than a sole trader like myself so I would say they are a bit high but not overly so. If you are in any doubt try another landscape gardener

Quotes that are too low are just as bad as too high. They say eradicate existing lawn= spray with weedkiller. Rotavate if/where required = not required. Supply preturfing ferterlizer = box of fish/blood/bone. Topsoil & turf costs about £300 by thier prices. So they will do the work for under £300. It would be a 2 person job so are they going to do it all in a day? They have to cut corners somewhere & that will be quality.
