Hi guys,
Wanted to build my own website to run my football games
and just wanted to ask which website they would recommend to build and maintain your own website. As I don't have that much technical knowledge but would like to have my own website at minimal cost, thanks a lot

If you're happy to pay, then Wix is very comprehensive. The site builder is easy to use (and produces content for different devices automatically).1

I like Squarespace.
Right mix of easy to use for novices but can do complex things when you are ready.1 -
THANKS guys i don't want anything too exciting, maybe the odd form to submit, the odd flashy graphic and maybe the ability to pay online would be awesome too0

If you are providing forms to fill in and offering the ability to pay for goods/services on-line, then you will need to consider actual data protection and Data Protection Act.
At the very least you will need to make sure HTTPs (TLS) is setup and you will probably need a privacy policy.
A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?1 -
I tried square space in the us (maybe better in the uk, I dont know) and it was horrible, so, i switched to WordPress which was much easier.0

So you guys reckon that WordPress is the way forward0

From my experience, it’s best if you do everything yourself. But if you’re seriously stuck somewhere, you can hire a freelancer to complete it for you at an affordable price. But that’s if you need professional help. You only need Wordpress and a domain name. There are different types of payments that may be required or requested, you’ll just choose the one that is most important for you. No fee is compulsory, you’ll only pay for what you want0
