As I read the first post it is the OP's employer (or at least their manager) who wants the OP and their colleagues to "apply" to go hybrid and the OP is reluctant to do so for the stated reasons:AinsleyFatCat said:...My manager has got everyone together and asked (as we've all said that we quite like working from home), to do a more long term semi-permanent basis hybrid working model. At first, I was up for this, but after properly reading the policy document that we received with the application for for hybrid working (not yet had my formal interview for it), I noticed that there is a clause regarding the Monitoring and Review,...

for years my employer was slowly reducing what it would provide for those WFH and then bang in 2020 they were throwing kit at everyone to ensure the business kept ticking along. now they are providing less and less. (ancient 14 inch monitor anyone??)
there's too many colleagues who have seriously suffered by having to WFH when the only place they can have some privacy is with a bedroom they are sharing with a sibling who is also working there. On the other hand there are also colleagues who are asking for the sun, the moon and all the air and water on the planet.
privacy is an issue for me as my "office" is a desk height skinny table under the stairs in the hallway by the dining table. The OH is sometimes eating breakfast just a couple of feet away so I need to get him to shut up and turn off the radio if I have a call.
But as for webcams.....unfortunately I never got issued with the headset and can't have my laptop open as I need a large monitor due to poor eyesight so all the stuff that enables the camera won't work. ). I would maybe ask what sort of notice they would give you, if it's an hour then that's not really ideal but if it's a weeks notice for a 10 minute visit then surely that could be accommodated?
