Wedding supplier cancellation

My fiancé and I are getting married in August 2022 after pushing it back from August this year. Recently, one of our suppliers contacted us to say they were unable to provide the service having been financially affected by the pandemic. In the email they said they were going to continue to explore options to refund customers but as yet we have received no further communication. Additionally, we were instructed not to contact them as replies to the original email would not be monitored. Our insurance will not cover the loss meaning we are now out of pocket by nearly £500 and are therefore in need of some advice. I have attempted to contact the company but all their associated email addresses appear to have been decommissioned. According to Companies House however, the business is still showing as active but I don't know if this is still the case.
I would be grateful for any advice that can be offered as I'm now at a bit of a loss both financially and also as to how to proceed.

How did you pay them?0

Go to your local MMA gym and see if a few of the lads want to do some “private work”?Or use a chargeback on your credit card?1

I'd monitor Companies House for a while longer. The danger is that you'll simply expend further money for no benefit. If the company does go bust.0

Thanks for the comments everyone, they're all really useful.
We naively paid on debit card as we wanted to pay off the entire amount in one go. In hindsight we should have paid using credit card as we'd then be covered by the Consumer Credit Act. As far as I'm aware debit card transactions are not covered under the Act. We're also not eligible to make a chargeback claim as the transaction was over 120 days ago...0 -
But you're within 120 days of the original booking date and have confirmation they cannot supply the second, so pursue a chargeback.1

Yep, chargeback is your best bet - if they've got no money then court action is ultimately pointless.0
