Sun tunnel?

Looking to getting a sun tunnel in my upstairs landing as there is no window. And potentially one in my ensuite as the window is quite small in there.

So my question is, how effective are they? The websites that sell them obviously rate them highly.

But for those who have them fitted, how good are they?

  • I’ve fitted a couple and was surprised at how good they was!
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

They were called sun pipes when I had mine fitted in the internal bathroom.  It is still possible for visitors to come out of the bathroom and pull the cord to turn off the light only to find it turns on and the illumination was being provided by the sun pipe.

Thanks for the replies. Any other feedback? Has anyone had a bad experience?

My parents have one - it was in the house when they bought it.  I was surprised at how effective it is, even on a cloudy day.  As Le_Kirk says, the first time I saw it I could have sworn it was a light left on.

We had one installed in February this year also in an internal hallway and are really pleased with it too. My only gripe would be that the internal 'window' that you see isn't the most attractive thing in the world, but its not a deal-breaker, I've been amazed at how much light it lets in.

Not costing me much at all as I'm currently in the middle of a double storey extension.

The actual sun tunnel has cost me £300 for a a 14"

They are superb. I had 2 put in (internal bathroom and internal corridor) and I loved them so much I considered getting them for all the rooms in the house. Ok so that would’ve been excessive but you get my drift. Fantastic bits of kit.
