Suppliers cable head inspection.

I have a 3 phase cable head entering my residential property. An electrician needed access to isolate the supply to next door where he was working. Before leaving he informed that the cable head was old and could do with replacing. SP Networks is responsible. Is there a cost to me raising an inspection request over this?

I doubt there will be any cost if they think that it is worth them coming out to inspect it. I would try to take a couple of good photos of the service head and offer to send these to SP Networks so they can judge if they want to send someone out to do a physical inspection. The service head is their property, so there shouldn't be any cost to you of raising a concern as to its safety.

The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

    Errr... Why ?
If the service head in your property also supplies the neighbour and the main fuse is your side of the wall, that would explain the need. But it is an unusual setup. Most electricians are not authorised to pull the main fuse, so you need to check that seals to the main cutout fuse and service head have been reinstated.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Old ones made of cast iron need replacing.  Ancient ones with fused neutrals need replacing.  Service heads that are on fire need replacing.

If it isn't any of those, it's fine.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
