Lowered handles

Options
Thought you may be interested to see this picture of the lowered handles on the kitchen windows we've had fitted today. Previously there was a standard casement window with a fanlight above. Complete waste having the fanlight, impossible to reach over the depth of the worktop. I idly asked the question when the chap came to quote, and yes it's perfectly possible to have lowered handles.  The fitter who has been fitting windows for 30 years said he's never seen them before!  We also have them on 2 bedroom windows where we have desks in front of the windows.

our windows were changed around 5 years ago and we also asked for lowered handles due to my wifes disability.
    Certainly not a new thing.

    That's handy!  I didn't know that. I'll tell my next client 🙂

Wish we had those in the kitchen - being 'vertically challenged' I struggle to reach over the sink unit

I am not vertically challenged but cannot reach one of our kitchen windows.  The walls of the barn are 800mm deep, the sink unit in front makes it impossible to lean over. Sadly even the lowered handles wouldn't be an option.  Thankfully I have other windows in the room but may replace this one with something that has an electric opener, if there is such a thing for a casement window.

That's interesting, we have 600mm walls and I have 2 windows I cannot reach without jumping onto or laying across the worktop!

I have to stand inside the sink unit to open and close the kitchen window.
