in Credit cards
I recently made a claim on my credit card for an item of footwear ordered but not delivered. The company ordered from, their website has now disappeared. The money paid, £24.99, has been re-credited to my credit card account, by the Credit Card company, great. But this has resulted in my credit card account being marked with "dispute" and my credit score with Equifax dropping by 103 points. I don't think the public are made aware of the consequences of raising a disputed sales transaction with a Credit Card company!!!

What consequences? You credit score is of no consequence whatsoever, seeing as how it's not used in any lending decisions, nor even seen by any lender. If you take a look at the 68-squillion-odd posts on here relating to credit scores, you'll discover that the score issued by the CRA is meaningless, and drops in reaction to any change whatsoever on your credit file, whether good, bad or indifferent. Your credit file has changed, ergo your score has dropped. As an aside, the "dispute" flag in itself is nothing to be worried about. It's merely recording the fact that a disputed transaction is being investigated, and will not affect you in any way.1

You need to complain to Equifax and get them to remove the error that their system process is causing.
But bear in mind that your "Credit Score" means nothing to lenders. They do not see that, they are more interested in your credit history. That data is fed from the banks, not credit ref agencies.Life in the slow lane0
