O/S Daily Friday 27 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, beans and chips - naughty but quick and easy - tonight will be something quick and easy also, may well be items from the fridge that need using up so they don't get wasted.
I have the normal "to do" list today with a few extras - so will crack on with that and get it done.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad but I'm pleased to be on days' off - not back to work until Tuesday of next week.
Keep safe and well x

Well I'm up early this morning - goodness knows why!
It's the usual dull day here; I thought this week would give us some sunshine but it seems to be in short supply.
Planning a geocaching walk this morning, followed by lunch at a newish farm shop/cafe so looking forward to that. After that I have ironing to do and haven't yet organised anything for dinner. Got given some French beans last night from someone's allotment but will cook those with Sunday lunch. Our plum tree needs checking daily now and I took a bag full to a friend yesterday.
Silly grandma went home with a piece of jigsaw puzzle in her handbag yesterday. I slipped it in there as it had been carried round to the swings but then abandoned..........
The month is nearly at an end and yet it seems as though summer hasn't really started yet. Maybe September will bring good things.
Will stop musing now and wish you all a happy Friday.11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC.
I am back with you after my few days away. The plumber has kept me informed of progress and texted yesterday morning to say all was functioning and he was just going to clean up!! So I came home last night and what a surprise! You wouldn't know all that upheaval had been happening. He really had cleaned up well but I'll go over everywhere anyway , especially in the kitchen.
I had a lovely few days away, enjoying the peace and quiet and watching the wildlife. I did lots of reading, both indoors and out and was very lazy. I just wish I could still enjoy all the long walks we used to go on but sadly my legs think differently. Sparkle settled marginally better than last time but still hasn't earned her stripes as a Caravan Cat! I think she was glad to be home last night.
I did 3 wash loads last night of the bedding, towels, t towels and clothes I brought back so they will be pegged out when I get showered and dressed. I'm still in sloth mode, lounging in my dressing gown. Anyway the plumber is coming at some point to go through the system with me (and no doubt present me with a big bill!) so better get myself moving in case it's an early visit.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and poorly loved ones and MIA. I hope RUBY and Dp1 have a lovely holiday and that DUMPLING is progressing well and they can find what's causing all the Sepsis. Have a good day folks and take care x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning all.No sunshine here either, it may arrive later.Yesterday I tackled more paperwork which I'd accumulated recently. Some from DM and some from me. Lots are now screwed up in a bag ready for me to feed in the chimera later this morning. A much reduced little pile will be scanned first before joining the rest. A neighbour called round to collect my castoff cotton rugs, we sat and blethered for a while.Later on I decided to sort out wires behind my TV, had a quick look and then decided to not bother. When I turned away from the TV I stumbled over the fender and landed on the hearth on my bottom! 😱 I had banged my back against the fireplace but was more worried about my hip and getting up as my knees are shot too and can't weight bear. Anyway I managed to bum shuffle to the nearest sofa, get cushions off it and under my knees and then up on my feet. What a state! Hip is fine, on my my back, bum and pride bruised. 🤣
Today I'll be packing more books and maybe sorting out the stuff on the spare bed though there's a cupboard upstairs which is begging to be cleared. Emptying it first would be good as it'll create space for the new stuff. My thoughts are with our poorlies and missing. Dumpling - how are you doing now?
Happy Thursday to all.12 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here but there is a brisk wind blowing, the wm is doing its job and the washing should dry well today.
Will walk the dogs this morning and then this afternoon I have to do my pre flight covid test and email it through to the company who will then hopefully quickly send me a certificate back. We have benn aloated seats this morning and are almost right at the back which suits me as its meant to be safer there and I am very anxious (terrified ) about flying.
I am going to clean the fridge out today and sort the freezer as it has got into a bit of a mess, I also need to was the sofa throws and cushion covers again.
I need to get something out of the freezer for dinner and empty the dw and hoover through.
Dumpling I hope you are doing ok xx
TA nice to see you back xx
Gers I hope your rear end is not too painful xxx
Have good days all xx12 -

Morning, hugs if you need one.
Brrr its cold this morning, have a fleece on, fingers crossed its a better day tomorrow, do not feel like sitting in a freezing garden whilst kids jump and scream on a bouncy castle, however I guess they will enjoy themselves. The things we do for family. Having lost his fiancee, SS seems to have relaised he still has a father and mother living........we will see.
Need to sort out stuff to take with us, warm jumpers included, can take them off if its hot, we decided not to shower this morning, but tomorrow then we can have a shower Sunday night before we go to bed.
Gardener due this afternoon, I am going to start him cutting down the bushes that bloom in early spring. Next week I need to start stripping out the large pots ready to plant them up with bulbs. Geraniums and fuschia cuttings will go under cover in the greenhouse.
Fish and chips with peas and carrots tonight for supper.9 -
TA glad to see you back, hope the bill isn’t too horrific
Dumpling, hope things are beginning to improve.
courgette soup is simmering away.
My friend bought me lots. of books yesterday so that should keep me out of mischief.
Nothing else planned apart from a visit from the palliative care nurse.12 -
Good morning everyone 😀
I am feeling so much better today thank you all for asking. I think the plan today is to switch me over to oral antibiotics and then possibly go home tomorrow depending on blood tests.I am looking forward to a decent cup of tea in my special mug as you just get stewed tea in plastic beakers here. The nurses have all been amazing and I’ve met most of them before as I am a frequent flyer 😀.
Gers I hope you haven’t hurt yourself too badly, it can be an awful shock when you fall over.TA glad you enjoyed your break and the subsequent home coming.
hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing, take care xxxx10 -
Hi everyone,I just had a brain f*rt and posted on yesterday's thread, probably because I woke at 4.30 this morning so I went back t bed at 8 for another couple of hours sleep. Then we went to the new Lidl in the next town, it's opposite the M & S where I often shop so I'm a happy bunny now I don't have to go in opposite directions. We still get the 20% discount at M & S even though Steve has retired, one of the assistants told us they now limit it to 5 years after retirement but luckily there's no limit for us. I tell him he can't die and take my discount with him.
We seem to be a bit short of people at the moment - is Monna around,I haven't seen her for a while, or nannywindow. Glad you're feeling better dumpling and welcome back TA.
Have a good rest of the day all.9 -
