On 2 sept 2020 I booked a 14 night all inclusive holiday in Turkey, due to arrive on 6 sept and leave on 20 sept via the trivago website.
I arrived at the hotel on 6,sept at 10.30pm to find it in darkness and the transfer driver checked with the security guard who advised that the hotel ha been closed since March 2020 due to the pandemic.
All alone in a foreign country, the two phone numbers stayforlong gave me were both unobtainable.
Although I made alternative arrangements I tried to contact the company but couldn’t until I returned to England.
when I eventually spoke to the company they advised it would take 12 weeks for a refund to be sent to me.

After 12 weeks I was phoning every week and being told I was “priority “, but in the last two weeks the phone has an engaged tone which then disconnects
we are now approaching a twelve month anniversary and I would dearly like my money back since they sold me something that didn’t exist
Where do I go from here?

I don't think that they sell package holidays so assume you are talking about just purchasing the hotel only element from them.
They are an online Spanish company, based and operated. One of the risks you take on when buying from overseas based businesses is that when things go wrong they can be very difficult to navigate out of.
There are sadly a number of complaints recorded and running about Stayforlong.com on both the Holiday Travel and Bargain Travel forums on Trip Advisors. You might wish to have a look at those to see how others have fared.
Depending on how you paid for your hotel you may recourse. Time is out on a charge back but if you paid by credit card you may be able to have them help via section 75 (see clink at very bottom of the MSE page).
Please be careful and wary of internet purchases from overseas businesses in future. Good luck sorting.0
