New window's - Have we been treated unfairly?

Options
Hi all,
We recently got 2 new windows cut in and a backdoor installed. We was quoted £2440 for this. We first got this quote the first week of May and the work has only been 'finished' yesterday.
Upon the cutting out of the 2 widows it made an awful mess inside and out, bricks exposed on both sides etc, render falling off. In the quote it stated the windows would be 'finished'. Upon asking what he intended to do to make good, he offered to plasterboard the inside.. and said he didn't know how to plaster, he never mentioned it would need re plastering initially. We left him some plasterboard but this never materialised. This meant us plasterboarding and bonding ourselves and also arranging a plasterer to attend at short notice. We had new carpets being fitted a week later so had no time to waste. Also after the cutting out, our boiler pipe wasn't covered correctly so a lot of dust went into our boiler, this meant our boiler then wouldn't start and cost us £100 for a new part. After finishing work he still confirmed the full quote, are w within our rights to at least deduct the plastering cost?

The plastering & render issue may depend on the exact wording of the quote  - 'finished' leaves a bit of leeway I guess, but I would expect some damage to these when having windows fitted - it's usually unavoidable.
Did you give them a chance to arrange a boiler repair or just got it sorted yourselves. I'm thinking of whether you can prove it was down to them after the event?

I see what you mean, he never mentioned that this would be needed however.

We didn't mention directly. Our plumber did tell him he would damage our boiler, then upon further inspection it had a huge amount of dust in it. So far he is unaware of this.

Difficult . If they said fitting and finishing it should be fitted and finished . Meaning inside and out side , If they said it wasn't included then its not , If this house is being lived in then I never use a wizzer inside to cut out openings . You will be getting dust from all corners from the next time forever . glad you had new carpets afterwards . Was any lintels installed in your new cut outs if they are needed . Boiler . esp been warned I would have covered it all up anyway but also told you and shown you it was well covered to cover my !!!!!! . Surprised they haven't asked you for full payment already
