Supporting someone who was knocked down as a pedestrian by a car, with the driver leaving the scene. reported to police but driver not tracked down. The person was taken to hospital and confirmed fractures, and later called back to have surgery with pins and a plate and now struggling. They are a mature student and not able to do placement as not weight bearing and potentially 6 month recovery. Emailed MIB but not had a response
How do they find a reputable and reliable lawyer as they are incurring costs for transport and many other things as well as impacting mental health. Or can they claim on their own, and if so , it this advisable .Many thanks

The best way to find any reliable service is by word of mouth, so ask around at work if anyone knows anyone who has used a solicitor for personal injury work. Failing that, call around local firms that advertise an expertise in the field and ask to speak to three of their recent clients.
If the person has home insurance, they might have legal expenses cover, so might be able to get legal representation via their insurer.
I've no experience as to whether self-representation to the MIB is a good or bad idea. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -

Certainly agree on checking if you have LE cover on Home insurance, some do buy it standalone too plus some unions include LE too0
