If you had claimed Universal Credit then yes you would have got the extra payment.  You were not entitled as you were claiming ESA instead.

If you are just receiving ESA then you would not have been entitled as the extra covid uplift payment did not extend to ESA and JSA. It was only for Uc claimants and people on tax credits.

    ...and is about to end.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

As things stand you missed out... and the rise is about to end for U/C. Unfortunately because the government was trying to protect with a rise many of those middle classes, who complain about benefits being too high until of course a pandemic left them reliant on same, it had little interest in extending support to legacy benefits like ESA. However I understand that is being legally tested as it looks like blatant discrimination (which the government is not unfamiliar with being ruled against regarding) and so you couldn't rule out that backdating for those who missed out will take place - I would assume it will not happen however.

Fantastic comment. So true. Let's just hope the last sentence does not come true. September 29 the date for the legacy benefit uplift high court hearing. I would love to see the government be found guilty of discrimination and forced to backdate payments.
A fair few MPs would agree with me too from both parties.
