I think you mean they are made by a company called Vestel who's factory is based in Turkey.

Sharp sold out a couple of years ago to the people that make the iphone,not sure what presence they have in the UK.
Tv made by Vestel in Tuekey,dont think Hisense involved any more.

Sharp is still a Japanese company, it's not owned by Hisense but they were/are a licensee in some markets.

Indeed, the OP said it was a well known Japanese brand, nothing about who manufactured it (and most people wouldn't know most Japanese brands are only brands now)

Most people would just assume that the likes of Panasonic, sharp, sony etc are Japanese.
