    I've used hall clips before, but generally I just use chocks because I will have a little lead left over, or scrap from the last time.  I trust chocks a little more because it's not depth-dependent and you can get them in there really tightly.

    I used mortar over leadmate last time because I prefer it aesthetically.  Whatever you're using, you don't want gaps. :)
