Change of Bank Details

Hi I need to ring DWP before the end of November to inform them of new bank details but can't get through to them. Is it ok to send these by post of pop to my local job centre to inform them of bank details changes?

So are you envisaging not being able to get through for several months?

Depending on the benefit you are claimng, yes, your local jobcentre may be able to help you.

I wouldn't send it by post because who knows how long it would take and whether they would action that. Trying ringing as soon as they open in the morning as this is usually the best time to ring.

I you haven't managed to get through by the beginning of November then I would call in to your local JobCentre with the details.  Make sure the documentation has your full name, NI number, account name, account number and sort code.  If you do have to take that route make sure you get the name of the person you hand the information to.

If you want payments to continue into the existing account until the November payment I would not inform them until you have received any payment due in October.

If on UC, you can report this as a change of circs on your account, you will then have an appointment booked for you to have them verified. 

No one at the Jobcentre will be able to change them for you (assuming UC again) this has to be done by you.
