Returning a suit no longer needed due to Covid impacted wedding

Last year, I ordered a 3 piece suit from Ted Baker for my wedding. The wedding was subsequently postponed due to Covid and in the end we decided to not go with a large wedding. I never ended up wearing the suit and it is still in pristine condition with its tags.
I contacted Ted Baker (more in hope than expectation as the order was over 12 months ago) to ask if it would be possible to get a refund - even if just a giftcard rather than my original payment method - if I returned it given the exceptional circumstances. Unsurprisingly, they declined!
I have subsequently listed the suit on both Facebook Marketplace & eBay as I could really do with recouping at least some of the money for it but I find both channels are not the best for selling clothes - particularly something like a suit. Not sure if there are betting places to list it on?
Any suggestions at all for my best bet to try and recoup some of the outlay? I will try Ted Baker again but not holding out much hope there.

If you've put it on facebook and ebay and haven't had much interest, you've priced it too expensively. Without a goodwill gesture from Ted Baker, your only option is to keep it or sell it, and if the latter, keep lowering the price until someone buys it.2

Not sure why you've put it to consumer rights, as you say its change of mind and so your only hope the merchant is a gesture of goodwill
You can see on eBay by searching for sold listings that most Ted Baker suits "new with tags" are going in the £50-£70 range when done as an auction. There are plenty with a £200 price tag but they are on a "or best offer" basis and whilst you can see its sold these sales dont give what offer was actually accepted.
Unfortunately fashion brands, where the value is only in the name, dont tend to have good secondhand prices -v- luxury brands or those more priced in line with the quality.1 -
As @Sandtree says the 2nd hand suit market is poor at best - and with pandemic ongoing is decreasing. The historic market mixed 'work-wear' plus 'events-wear' both of which have suffered with no short term signs of recovery to the same position.
If you've tried eBay/Facebook then have a go with Vinted but I'd be surprised if you get more than £50

Not a chance of getting anything from Ted Baker - look at it from their point of view, it's been out of their control for a year and they have no idea how it's been stored, plus they'll have restocked to replace it long ago.
Unfortunately the circumstances are irrelevant, given the number of cancelled events if they accepted these returns they'd probably go bust.
Selling it on is your best bet, but it'll likely be an order of magnitude less than you paid sadly.0 -

You ordered a suit to wear for one specific event and then decided not to wear it... That's not exactly "exceptional circumstances" that's just you wasting money
so you can't really expect them to accept it back and it's a bit silly to try asking them again. Just put it on eBay as bidding and see what it goes for or keep it for something else in the future. 0 -
Did you price it reasonably?TMelt said:Last year, I ordered a 3 piece suit from Ted Baker for my wedding. Not reasonably to you in terms of what you paid but reasonably for someone who may be looking for a suit in a specific size and is willing to take a punt on it fitting.
I sell some of my unwanted clothes on eBay but am realistic that I'm not going to get anywhere near the ticket price.
Or even half the ticket price as it may have been reduced by the retailer in the sale.

Was it an off-the-peg or made-to-measure suit?
Was it ordered online?
Did they send you the required information explaining your cancellation rights as per the CCRs 2013?
Even so, if it's more than 1 year 14 days then even that possibility of getting a return and refund has passed.Jenni x0 -
No reason you couldn't have worn the suit at a smaller wedding.
Were you on/y going to wear it for the big wedding day and not again?
