O/S Daily Tuesday 24 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Bit of a long day yesterday - elderly relative has been admitted to hospital and I finished up going to the hospital to take clothes and sitting with them until they went up to a ward - got home last night just before 11pm - they had been at hospital since yesterday morning. They are supposed to be seen by Surgeons today. I'm going into work as I can't do anything as I won't be allowed onto the ward, but they have said it's likely that relative will be discharged today.
Work as expected was manic and I expect the same today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Misty out this morning but should burn off soon for a sunny day, hope so as I have washing out and I want to cut the grass when I get home from work.
I had a busy weekend with DS1 and the DGC. DD, her partner and the little one came for dinner on Saturday too. DGS thinks he's a dinosaur and only roared with nods or shakes of the head, DGD was being a spoiled little lady and the little one was running round the kitchen table ringing a very loud cowbell - I was glad when they all ran out of steam! We managed a swim on Sunday which was good fun but I was exhausted, the house was a tip and the washing basket was overflowing! All sorted now, I'm glad to be back at work.
Hugs to you dumpling, get well soon.
Hope you got your laptop fixed Gers.
When are you off Ruby?
Hope you're all safe and well and TA is having a good rest with Sparkle.
Take care. XX12 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Nmlc, I'm sorry to hear about your relative.
We had sun yesterday afternoon and I think it may be sunny today, We have had top temps of 13° and thick cloud for weeks.
We are travelling again today and tomorrow, We usually only travel alternate days but Steve stopped early yesterday.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.11 -
I'm sorry to hear that NMLC, I hope they are OK. Same to you dumpling.
I'm up and dressed ready to drop Steve off at the golf then go on to Laura's. I shall be baby wrangling while she and Brian do various things. He has got some temporary work for the next few months and Laura will be busy sorting things as they go away tomorrow for nearly three weeks visiting his family. They had a lovely time at the festival and we have some lovely video of Esben joining in a drumming workshop. He was happy to wear his ear defenders and apparently got an ovation from the crowd at one place because he was applauding the band so enthusiastically after every song and at the end. The camper van worked well for the, unfortunately because it's a two berth they can't all drive in it because there are only two seatbelts so their use is limited.
Not a lot happening here, I have lost my enthusiasm for planning and cooking meals, something that periodically happens, hopefully it will come back soon. We had a scratch supper of beef and broccoli stir fry last night. It only takes 10 minutes to make with five ingredients so it didn't take much thought or energy. I'll leave tonight to Steve because I shall probably be shattered when I get back.13 -
Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc, sorry to hear about your relative.Yesterday was filled by driving down to Glasgow very early, mind you I was behind a series of slow moving drivers for a lot of the journey so I didn't get there until just after 9.00am. However, it's was a perfect time for the computer repair place, the technician laughed when I told him what happened - dribbled egg yolk is a first for them. 🤭 I ended up buying a new laptop as a stopgap as the repair could take some time because of a shortage of parts. There's so much of life and DM's death on my laptop that I really need one.I did a quick shopping trip when there, there's a couple of things I can't easily get here. My eye was caught by a 'special buy' of fitted double sheets, something I genuinely needed. My old mattress was a deep one so all my sheets are now too big and annoying so I was pleased with the new ones. The drive back was in glorious sunshine. Both ways I listened to a new audio book which I now need to finish, still three hours to go. I also went the alternative scenic route avoiding Loch Lomond completely as it's still choked by camper vans and caravans. Whilst welcoming tourists a lot of them (not all) are not used to driving on country roads and so resort to driving very slowly and braking going round every bend. 😎
When home I washed the new sheets and spent a few happy hours setting up my new toy.Today I'll be mostly resting!Dumpling - I hope that you recover very quickly and the medics can find out why you are getting such frequent bouts of sepsis. 🌺Happy Tuesday to all.12 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here but with a brisk wind which will help with all the washing. I have washed everything I want to take away with us but there are a couple of normal loads to do so will do those today.
I have my electrolysis today and then onto the post office to collect our euros, then back to walk the pups and then continue packing and sorting what I am going to take. Camelot we go early Sunday morning leaving here at 3.45
Dinner tonight will be quiche new potatoes and salad for OH and DD I shall have a chicken breast stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon with some veg.
Dumplimg I am so sorry to hear you are in hospital again, I hope you get well soon xxx
Have good days all xxx

Foggy here this morning - I hope it burns off as I was planning on taking little one to the park with a picnic lunch.
Dumpling - sorry to hear you're back in hospital - take care of yourself
Managed to get the grass cut front and back when I came back from dad yesterday afternoon. It was almost teatime but I got it done before I made anything - I wanted it done before I went away.
I need to swop some money around as I have the dentist tomorrow, big cat has his booster later and I need to pay the cattery - eek!
I have ironing to do, bathroom to clean and last wash to put in and then little one will arrive about 10 for the day
Hope everyone has a good day today and the sun comes out10 -

Morning all,Sorry to hear about your relative nmlc, hope things improve soonDumpling, oh no, I hope you feel better very soon, you've been doing so well.Yesterday turned out very warm at lunchtime. Met my old neighbour in town but she struggled getting about so we got back in the car and went out of town for a late lunch. I didnt need any tea so the men had the cottage pie to themselves and I had an apple and some cheese later.I'm hoping for a quiet day
, it's not sunny today, not yet anyway. No idea what's for tea but we'll not go hungry, take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Sorry to hear you are back in hospital Dumpling, hope they can find out why you are getting such frequent bouts of sepsis.
Cloudy morning, my neighbour has been taken back to hospital, she should not have been sent home in the state she is in, can hardly walk and very breathless, lots of pain from her back.
I put a load of laundry in overnight, not something I usually do, but I wanted to get it out and dry, we have to go out this afternoon.
DB is getting more frequent AF on and off all day yesterday, thankfully his pacemaker sends info every night to the hospital. He still gets wound up about it though.
No sewing done. I am about the take the rest of the chicken off the bone and do a salad for tonights supper. I am going to make a creme caramel for dessert it will do us a couple of nights.7 -
Hello from hospital, I finally got moved onto a ward when one of the ladies in our bay tested positive for covid so we were all moved to a covid ward and we’re not allowed any visitors 😭. The doctor said he was going to get the microbiologist involved to see why I keep getting sepsis. This is the 5th time in 3 years and it’s only been a few weeks since I was last in hospital. I also have a heart murmur but I am not going to worry about that for no.
Thank you all so much for the well wishes it means a lot xxxxx10
