Can anyone clarify for me please. If I book a holiday with TUI for next year to a country that is currently on the red list and it is back on the red list at the time of travel will i be able to get a refund for the trip? Or would I be penalised as it was red at the time of booking?

TUI will not operate holidays to red list countries. You would be offered a refund or rebooking option. It is all covered on their website.

if the flight is operating and the accommodation available then the fact that you need to quarantine when you return is not a valid reason for a refund.

You would be choosing not to go which is disinclination to travel, which would not be covered by  insurance and only covered by the  holiday organiser if included in the booking conditions.

Tui  do not fly to red list countries , so if the holiday was cancelled then you would get a refund.

Or book with British Airways ( Travel before April 2022) and you would pay a minimal deposit with the balance due three weeks before. Up to that point you could cancel and receive your deposit back in the form of a voucher with no more to pay.

I have booked a Trip with BA to the USA in June paying a £200 deposit with the rest due three weeks before departure. The Holiday is three and a half bags so as I said the down payment is minimal. If I cancel I will only be a couple of ton down.

Don't book with anyone who requires a larger deposit or the balance payable more than three weeks before you leave for maximum flexibility.

BA offer this does anyone else ? - There must be few !!

    so Tui offer refunds, coolio....

What if u had a flight booked with ryanair, to a country which is amber and flights are going daily, but then our Gov decided to stick that country on the red list in 2 or 3 days time.,....
Am guessing ryanair would offer vouchers initially, or possibly a refund if they dont end up flying to that location (apart from doing flights to get people home)....
As an example,  spain (cant see that happening myself)/

I think Ryanair would be more likely to allow you to change and rebook to a future date, rather than issue a credit voucher.
