But most people take shortcuts over PAT testing.

Plug the equipment into the tester.  Tester goes "beep" and spits out a "PASS" sticker.  Put sticker on appliance.  You can do a whole office at a few pence per appliance.
Yes. Many may just ‘sticker slap’.
I have a Seaward Primetest 100 tester on the way. Gives readings for three tests and can save results to an app so I can send off to clients/venues.
  • Why don't you get a chazzer to test it for you? Eg a BHF?

That way. it's done independently for a low price.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

The scary thing is when I used to work on site and stickers was hand written not one was genuine, I’m guessing that’s why the printed label came out!
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

Yes PA testing is supposed to include visual inspection for damage like cracks in plastic casings, loose fasteners, cuts in the flex, and a check on the correct fuse being fitted. How many do all that?

    Thanks for the replies.
Have done most of the tests now with the new Primetest 100.
Got test record book and stickers and can fill in and send off to clients/venues.

We complete all required inspections and tests of equipment when PAT Testing. As such, we also fail our fair share of assets. Obviously we don't carry it out at mere pence per test, however.
