TUI HOLIDAY

I recently booked a holiday with TUI and due to corona tests not coming back I couldn’t make the flight, these tests were booked with chronomics who tui recommended.
After so many phone calls we were offered a re booking of the holiday but we were unable to do this as my partner is going back in the marines September 6th and had no idea when we would have time off due to deployments etc.
I finally gave in a rebooked I was going to go on my own but TUI then said I can’t re book as I didn’t want to the first time they asked. I have proof of employees saying multiple times I can have a new holiday free of charge after we initially said we couldn’t and asked for a full refund but they won’t change their minds.
I’m 18 and have lost £1,600 I really can not afford this my insurance has offered no help, a charge back cannot be done as it’s with ATOL I’ve emailed everyone and completely ran out of ideas.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

14 years army wife here, Did you take out the cancellation insurance ?
The only other option you have is to sell the holiday and whoever buys it will incur charges for changing names, but unfortunately you wont get the full cost back for it.
Id possible try to tell them that your partner has been deployed and see if they can reschedule but unfortunately you will lose money either way.
For the future tho always take out insurance, it costs extra but its worth it.
Never make plans, always book last min holidays and even then hope nothing kicks off.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the armed forces !0 -
Late to the party on this, i suspect the time has passed.
Your best case, is to keep calling back up, hope you get a good person on the end of the phone, who can give you some form of "credit" as a goodwill gesture.
This isn't really "Armed Forces" related, but instead a general holiday query. You may get a better response by posting within the "Holidays" section of the forum.
If I was still a Board Guide, i'd move it for you...
I hope you get the outcome you want @lilyashby2002
