Hiring a car - photo licence expired at DVLA in the backlog

Can anyone recommend a car hire company who will allow me to hire a car - my photo card licence expired and is caught up in the DVLA backlog!

    No hire company will hire you a car without a valid license.

    They need sight of the licence .

    If it was sent away with the renewal form then he has no proof of having a licence.

    He states that his photo card licence has expired. I took that to mean that his driving licence has expired?

    The photo expires every ten years, unless restricted your licence and entitlement to drive lasts until you're 70.

    Thanks all. My licence is still valid, it is just the photo that has expired. I've found out that Thrifty and Enterprise are happy to rent a car with a DVLA check code, passport and utility bill
