Sloped Garden Ideas?

Options
Hi

We live in a new build which has a sloped back garden, upwards away from the house and behind us is a coach house which is taller than our house.

The developer laid a small patio outside the house and a slightly bigger one which is level with the attached garage.

Now we have a toddler, we would like more ‘flat’ space for him to play on. The slope upwards is probably 1.5 - 2 foot difference in height between the rear doors and the first brick you can see of the coach house at the back.

I realise we cannot level the garden completely because we will end up below the foundations of the couch house behind but I am looking for ideas on how best to do something to make things more flat. I want to replace the existing council type slabs so am thinking I can extend the patio from the rear doors out so its out as far as the bit lower down, likely need a retaining wall or some sleepers and to put a step in.

Initially I was thinking of knocking down the existing retaining wall and digging out the existing soil to make the overall patio longer but the amount of soil that will need to come out doesn’t bear thinking about and the cost is going to be eye watering.

Annoyingly, there is another big slope down behind the garage (picture 2) which bring the garden level with next doors, theirs is flat.

Thanks

I can only see that you level some of it nearest your patio and make the slope shorter.
Trouble is a toddler is going to enjoy climbing up it and maybe falling off the top bit.
Does the patio drop into the grass bit or steps? The rope edging looks like an A1 trip hazzard plus the step in the patio.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
