Single parent, loan and UC

I'm a single parent who rents their home. I have a disability and receive PIP.
I'm want to try and return to education and was advised I could  apply to SAAS and that the housing element, child element and disability element of my Universal Credit wouldn't be affected if I took out the student loan - they also said I may as well take it as UC treats it as you have regardless and would remove the single person element anyway.

I have since however been told that the loan will in fact cancel out my housing element meaning I'm required to pay full rent which would take most of the monthly loan payment (£675p/m) and my UC payment would be deducted by £1 for each £1 received so a further £675 - this then would mean and I'd lose the single person element which is £325. No one knows if the disability element would be affected.

When I try to look for information it's quite confusing and I've asked UC for clarification but they've not replied.

Can anyone help at all?

I think you might get more help posting on the benefits board.
UC and studying is complicated especially when disabilities are involved.

Your PIP is unaffected as it's not a means tested benefit.
You would be classed as taking the maximum student loan, whether you do or not, as you mention. This will be classed as income for UC purposes.
I don't think there are any disregards to specific UC elements for students as they are all added together to work out your whole entitlement, whether or not you have a work allowance and how much it is will determine how much is deducted due to the student loan.

That's the basics as I understand them but I would encourage you to repost this on the benefits board.
There are people with more knowledge on this whom I'm sure can be more helpful and clarify things.
