Hi all hope you all had a great christmas!
24th December
I've managed to be charged £38 for not having enough money in my account to pay a bill but I was told if I got some money in the account I wouldn't be charged anything, I had put in £50 that day and my overdraft was raised to £1600 so I can't see why I have now been charged and my bill for the car finance hasn't gone through! I'm a bit worried about this, need to pay the finance, can't be losing my car!
Was due to be out christmas eve with my family but wasn't very well after work, saved me some money though I suppose!
25th December
Nothing was spent at all, got some lovely presents and had a good time. Should be christmas more often, might save myself some money!
26th December
I spent £57 on tickets for upcoming football games, will be getting £12 back though for one of the tickets in the next few days.
27th December
Went to Morrisons to get a few things, ended up spending £7.92. That was all I spent though.Lightbulb Moment  (10/12/07) :j

29th December
My dad gave me £20 as a thank you for picking him up and taking him to the coach to go home. I spent £3 on car parking for the football and £1.10 on a much needed coffee at half-time, admission to the game was already paid for by my season ticket. On the way home I got a take-away costing £2.10
30th December
I spent £4.92 on a paper and some groceries. Still have quite a bit left after my overdraft increase, waiting until the 6th when I get paid to see how much I'll have left before transferring any to pay my credit card off.Lightbulb Moment  (10/12/07) :j

Happy New Year!! :hello: _party_
I've not been on for a few days but I've been paid today so now seems like a good time to focus on my finances.
Feeling pretty positive at the moment, went for a job interview on friday at Manchester Airport, dealing with foreign currency. If I get the job I'll be on roughly the same money as I'm on now but with more opportunity to earn bonuses and my pay will increase once I complete the probation period. I think I've got a very good chance of getting the job, just got to wait and see now!
I got paid £939.78 this month after tax, no bonuses this month either and I've transferred £150 to pay off some of my MBNA Credit Card debt, I'm planning on transferring some more later on in the month but want to see how the month goes before I do anymore.
I've also transferred £15 to my Barclays Debit Card to keep it under the overdraft limit. I was going to pay off the minimum payment on my capital one account but there are problems with the website currently!
I also did the food shopping which came to £118.35, ordered it online using Tesco so the price should be lower than that when it arrives tomorrow.Lightbulb Moment  (10/12/07) :j

Hi. Have you * whispers here* any unwanted Xmas presents you can sell on ebay? It would be worth having a spring clean and ebay /green metropolis/ Amazon any unwanted stuff. That could bring in a bit extra.
Dont forget good old pigsback and other daily clicks sites as well.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
I'll have a look around tealady, I'm sure there is plenty of stuff that I can get rid of. What is pigsback? Never heard of that before.
7th January
The food shopping from Tesco came to £100.87 after all the discounts, car insurance came to £71.58. I went to McDonald's for dinner, wasn't feeling great and there was nothing at work to eat, this cost £4.46. After work I went to PC World and I've got myself a new laptop on finance (don't hurt me). Was on offer for £650 and I'm paying £19.75 a month for 48 months.
On checking my capital one account I was charged £14.41 in interest for the month.
9th January
Today I've transferred £29.36 to pay the minimum payment for the month on my capital one credit card. I struggled out of the house today not been feeling well at all the last couple of days and spent £3.63 at Aldi.Lightbulb Moment  (10/12/07) :j

Seriously you need to think about what you are doing.
Ref glasses, you could have taken the prescription with you and then got it filled on line. This would have cost you less.
Ref the computer. Unless it is absolutely essential and not a comfort present:eek: , then take it back. This time of year you could say that you got the wrong thing, that you bought it for someone and there was a mix up and they had ordered online. Anything.
Then if you really want one, go to www.quidco.com and sign up. PC World give 2.5% cash back on online sales for starters, which would have been £16.25 (less £5 joining fee), plus you can often get vouchers for computers, at www.hotdeals.co.uk, so you could have probably saved some more too.
Getting out of debt is not JUST about earning more, it is making the money you have work harder for you.
We have just bought a Dell laptop for my mum. It cost £715, but it would have been £30 more and without free delivery if we hadn't used a voucher. We will also get 6% of the non vat price back as cash back, so about another £30. So we will overall have saved £60.
good luck with the job
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hello again. Pigsback is a site where you can click to get piggypoints which can be converted to vouchers for certain shops. You don't have to spend anything but its best if you look daily. Look for the little pink signs with 5 points on, click those and they will be credited for free.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

Thanks for the feedback chevalier, the laptop is essential, the computer I have is pretty old now and very slow! I won't be getting anything like this in future, until I have sorted my debts out.
I've signed up with quidco now and I will use this, looks like I could make a killing using it, if only I had been using it sooner!
I got some good news today, hadn't heard anything about the job I applied for since the interview so I phoned them this afternoon. They said they've sent my application to head office and recommended me for the vacancy. Got to wait for a formal offer now and they would like to start on the 11th February. :j  :j
Joined pigsback as well, thanks tealady. I'll see how I get on with this.
Not spent anything today as well, been a pretty good day I think!Lightbulb Moment  (10/12/07) :j

I had my resignation letter ready and waiting in case the job offer came in the post today but sadly it didn't so it'll have to wait until monday!

I put a pound in for a collection at work but thats all that I spent today!
I've been on quidco for a bit and I've already made £6.37 filling in questionnaires etc, can't wait for all the spam to arrive! I was also given a scratchcard for christmas, finally got round to scratching it and I've won a fiver on it! Will be cashing that in tomorrow.
Not much else is happening at the moment, I've cancelled my direct debits for the gym and for an internet subscription for Oldham Athletic saving me £29 a month, well it's a start...Lightbulb Moment  (10/12/07) :j

I finally got the formal offer for the job I applied for! :j Got a few forms to fill in and post tomorrow, I can't wait to hand in my resignation letter tomorrow!
After doing my last ever saturday shift at work I went to the football and with my ticket already paid for I spent £3 on car parking and £3.30 on refreshments.
I've also applied for an Alliance & Leicester Current Account as recommended on Martin's weekly e-mail, this has been accepted so should be getting details of that through shortly!Lightbulb Moment  (10/12/07) :j
