My desktop PC powers on, and will allow me to click any icons etc, but if I open a folder icon, then click to open a jpg image, it doesn’t open and comes up with an error message.
also, I can’t seem to click on any of the apps/shortcuts on the bottom task bar, and I can’t shut it down using the option in the bottom left hand corner, Only from holding down the power button on the actual PC itself
any ideas please?

What does the error message say?Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.2

Thank you Ivan, I completely forgot about a system restore. Carried out a restore from 2 weeks ago and now all is resolved

Might be an idea to think about what might have caused it.0

Also good time to check you have a backup of all precious data on that PC - this could be the warning signs of something like a hard disk or other hardware starting to fail.0
