Mrs B has an I Phone SE running IOS 14.6
It's trying to upgrade to the latest IOS (14.7.1), but is telling her there isn't enough room
Can anyone offer advice as to what to do to get this update done

Free up some space?  Remove apps, pictures, photos, videos...  That's all you can do realistically.

Does she have 'offload unused apps' enabled in settings?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Maybe transfer, Photos and Videos into Cloud. Check all of her apps in settings it will tell her how much of her storage allowance she is using per app.

She pays the 59p (?) per month for I Cloud storage, so can she just delete them off her phone and they will still be on the I Cloud?

This definitely is the case with Yandex Disk, so I'd assume similar with iCloud, but check the terms and conditions before doing anything.

Not an iPhone user here and I use a phone that was never available in the UK in the specs it has, but videos take up a lot of storage space in general, as do certain apps.

You absolutely cannot delete them from your iPhone and have them remain on iCloud, that's not how iCloud Photos works.

What she needs to do is go to Settings, Photos and make sure Optimise iPhone Storage is turned on.

    Yup, done that too

I've long since learned not to assume that anything aPpLe works the same as any other 'system'!

I *think* we have enough room now - will leave it to update overnight ....

    True.

If you're looking for additional storage space for free, I definitely can recommend the above for photo/video storage, up to 10gb IIRC.

See what happens and go from there will be my advice.

WhatsApp by default saves all the photos and videos to the phone. It it's anything
like mine, 99% of the videos and photos are junk anyway.

Go on 'settings', 'chats' and turn off 'Save to camera roll'. You can still press on any picture you do want to save and select save to camera roll.
