ok so i have booked a holiday to greece with two friends 1 of which is the lead booker. the problem i have is i told her about 6 weeks ago i couldn't go this is plenty time before departure which is oct 21.
i have paid £150 towards the cost which is £460 each and the lead booker has received from on the beach a breakdown of holiday costs and cancellation charges which means i am more or less paying it all even though i gave her plenty notice and only this week she contacted them but i also said i would pay the transfer name charge idf they found another,
but now being asked to pay the money although the lead booker hasn't actually had out of credit card yet and only now finding out she never took insurance out.
what is best way to sort this if anyone knows the rundown of charges is:
flight reduction is 0.00 non refundable airline
hotel reduction £80
transfer reduction 0.00 non refundable
admin fee £30
total reductions £50
current holiday cost £1372.71
new holiday cost is £1322.71
can anyone help me the lead booker paid oin credit card if makes any difference

Are the other two travellers planning to travel? There is no advisory against travel to Greece at this time.
As this appears to be a change of mind rather than based on restrictions, the rights will be governed by the contract with OTB.
It may be best to leave things as they are, you pay your friends the £460 and they go to enjoy their holiday, as to me a friendship isn't worth losing over less than £500.💙💛 💔1 -
OnTheBeach will only be able to pass back any money that they can recover from their suppliers. (They aren't a package holiday company like TUI for example - they just book flights and match with hotels to form a package).
They've provided you with a breakdown of what they can refund:
Flight Reduction £0 - Non refundable airline ticket - pretty much what it says on the tin. Low-cost airline tickets are almost always non-refundable
Hotel Reduction: £80 - Removing one person from the room results in an £80 refund
Transfers: £0 - as with the flights it looks non-refundable
Admin Fee: £30 - this is OTB's admin fee for the work to change the booking
So it's basically £50 back. If you refuse to pay your amount, then your friends will have to pay it or lose the holiday, and all money already paid (and maybe more). The fact your friend delayed telling OTB may have made a small difference in cost, but its unlikely to be much - it definitely won't have changed the situation with the flight.
Credit Card makes no difference - that only covers you if the supplier go bust or are in breach of contract. Which isn't the case.
Insurance - it's not all your friend's fault. You could, and should, have taken out insurance for yourself as soon as you booked the holiday. You could have had a chat with your friends about whether to do policy for all 3 of you or to sort your own, but it's your responsibility to ensure you are covered. Also, insurance will only help if the reason you are cancelling is covered in the policy.

Why would you not pay it?
If the holiday is non-refundable and you’ve just changed your mind, who else do you think would be covering the cost? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
IMO you owe them whatever money it takes so the cost to the other 2 remains the same. Why should they pay more because you choose not to go2

Even if she had contacted OTB 6 weeks ago, the figures would have been the same.brianfaescotland said:ok so i have booked a holiday to greece with two friends 1 of which is the lead booker. the problem i have is i told her about 6 weeks ago i couldn't go this is plenty time before departure which is oct 21.

RE BIB - why would you expect someone else to sort out your holiday insurance?
Why didn't you take out your own insurance?
Although - depending on the reason you can't go on the holiday that may have been lost money too.0 -
would your reason for not being able to go have been covered by your travel insurance had you taken any out? Insurance does not cover change of mindbrianfaescotland said:i have is i told her about 6 weeks ago i couldn't go
You were due to pay £460 for the holiday
£150 paid already = £310 due
£50 refundable due to one person not travelling = £260 due
If you don't pay your friends will need to pay £130 each extra to make up the difference (you still lose your £150 and maybe your friends)0
