Send them an invoice for the repairs. 28 days to pay. If they don't send a letter before action.
They don't pay the invoice. Then what?

    Launch a small claim?
    Good luck.

Unlikely. The screws & nails spray out the back, so they can't run over them unless they reverse, and by the time they come back the next day unfortunate motorists have picked them all up using their tyres.  :o

It seems you're maybe suggesting they are working from the back of an open van?
So the nails are spewing out the back but they will drive forward when finished?
That's not the case, it's a general building site.

They drive battered light commercial pick-ups, and the screws etc. work their way out under the tailgate when they move forwards, and the dropsides when they corner.

If you think about it, they can hardly be puncturing their own tyres, or they would be more careful :)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

    Who's "they"?
It's a building site, it's builders turning up in their own cars every day.
I've really no clue what scenario you're on about.

I'm on about the nails & screws strewn all over the road which appear by co-incidence when building work or refurbishment is being done, there is no way it can be caused by builders in private cars, unless they are deliberately throwing them out of the windows, or feeding them down a chute cut into the floor, which although possible, is rather unlikely as they have to pay for the screws.

Well they're not nailing stuff at the side of the road.
So it's their constructions vehicles or their boots carrying them all over the place, or they're falling out of their work clothes.
I ran a crating company for decades, I know nails/scrails can find themselves all over the place and nowhere near where the guys are actually using the guns.
