Hello
any advice helpful. Changed car insurer after my policy was up for the year. Used money supermarket, found RAC was the cheapest at £30 per month. All good
pay deposit, then a day later get an email saying I didn’t declare an accident and now it’s going up to £55 per month which we will struggle to afford (and is more then the last two years)
it says I don’t declare an accident and they have found it.
what this was , was a minor bump in a carpark which resulted in a scratch on a ladies car, she said she would claim, so I did the right thing and called my insurer at the time. They said if she calls to claim they will contact me and that she probably won’t. She never claimed , I never heard again. And it was forgotten about.
can they increase my payments because of this? Is it normal for it to sit on my file as an accident if she never claimed and neither did I?

I have been driving 9 years and still have my 9 years no claims proof from previous insurer who didn’t seem to mention this “accident” or “find it” in the last 12 months ( it’s happened nearly 2 years ago)
wish I never called it in.
anything I can do??

Cancel your policy and tell the next company about the bump and that it was for information only and be more careful next time.

Unfortunately you are in the wrong. For what it's worth it might be worth trying to speak with RAC insurance who may or may not be sympathetic to the reason for mistaking 'no accidents' for 'no claims' - it can't make the situation any worse and you can find out what your cancellation costs are.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.1

What did you answer?
Did you say "No"?
Because that would have been a fib, wouldn't it?
All that's happened is that they've caught you out in that fib, because the incident was recorded on the industry databases.1 -

Which obviously it is judging by the answers above. Just confused why I had a whole year of insurance cheap then suddenly this year it wants to go up and this has been brought to attention again when it never affected my last policy0 -

That said it's irrelevant what your previous insurer did or didn't take into account so even if you changed insurers previously it has no bearing on your current situation.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.0 -

Yes, it absolutely is.
Now your premium is being priced appropriate to the correct risk they perceive you offer, which is why it's gone up.Just confused why I had a whole year of insurance cheap then suddenly this year it wants to go up and this has been brought to attention again when it never affected my last policy
You "forgot", then, too? Despite it being just a few months earlier?
Your last insurer were clearly a bit slapdash, and didn't bother doing the basic checks. Naughty insurer, lucky you.0 -
You're blimming fortunate that A) they chose to check now, not at the point where you might need to claim and not be able to to and B ) that they didn't just cancel your policy outright for giving false information.0

Sorted now. Cancelled and declared it and tried again with other insurers and Churchill seem happy to unsure at £30 with the info. Thanks for your help.Il remember not to call til someone claims next time if anything minor happens, and to declare this 3mph scratch in future lol1

Your choice but technically your insurance agreement will state that yu should inform them if any incident, irrespective of whether or not you want to make a claim.0

When you kerbed an alloy? When you hit your gatepost? When you reversed in to a bollard?
Where do you draw the line?0
