O/S Daily Friday 20 August 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy, damp underfoot, showers forecast.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was clear up from the fridge, pork pie (menfolk), ham, gammon, scotch egg, hot new potatoes, side salad and coleslaw. Tonight possibly a SM chinese.
Yesterday work was steady but then manic again in the afternoon, I had some tech problems yet again, which makes the job difficult. Did manage to get a call to IT dept who helped and so hopefully I should be ok when I go back to work on Monday - we'll see!
Have all the normal jobs to do today - food shopping first thing, then some others.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
I was up early to decorate a birthday cake for DGD, she was 10 last week. I had made a cake for her when they were supposed to come a couple of weeks ago that I gave to the neighbours, this is a butterfly mark II!
DS1 and the children are coming tonight for the weekend, really looking forward to seeing them and hearing all about school, DGS started on Wednesday, they both looked very smart.
Washing is just finishing so will hang that on the pulley before I go, I think it's to rain today.
Work is extremely busy, hardly had time to breath yesterday and can't see it getting any better for the next few weeks. One of my colleagues is doing a job for management, the other seems to be playing about with laptops, may have to start delegating!
Hoping this morning finds everyone safe and well, hugs to the poorlies. Take care. XX13 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Moving day today unless it's raining after we've killed the water tank.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the start. Another sunless day promised but at least it's to be warm and dry and the wind has finally dropped!
As I ended up with 2 of the DGDs all day yesterday nothing else got done so today's Friday Tidy will be a busy one with the kitchen and bathroom on the agenda too. But I'm not complaining as it was lovely to have them. They'd had a good few days at the van with various friends they have made there in residence too.
Tonight we have the vets, cue Sparkle morphing into Psycho Cat as I try to get her in her carrier. We've had to wait all week for an evening appointment (so DS could take us) so meanwhile her conjunctivitis and allergy have been getting worse. Poor little cat I wish there was a magic cure but sadly there isn't.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. CAMELOT have a lovely w/e with the DGC, it seems it serves their mother's purpose this time. Take care one and all and be safe x

Good morning everyone
It's dry here at the moment but rain is forecast later on. I have the grandchildren staying as their parents went to Exeter for the night as it was their wedding anniversary. Thay are no trouble but my grandson did wake me up at 6 playing Fortnite on his laptop just outside my bedroom door! He has been fed and watered and is now playing in the living room. There will be no sign of his sister till much later as she is a teenager.
I need to get some chicken out pronto as it needs to defrost for dinner. I'm thinking about making either a curry or fajitas. We had a lovely beige dinner last night of chicken dippers, chips, onion rings and coleslaw. It made a nice change although I did miss my veg. I also baked a chocolate marble ring cake which disappeared at the rate of knots.
Today I have decided to get off my ample backside and do some cleaning. I am going to start with the kitchen and just take my time but do all the little jobs that get missed like shining the sink and cleaning the microwave. The floor also needs mopping but I will ask Steve to do that when he gets up. It will be good for me to get more active and it will also benefit the house. I love reading the Flylady thread on here for inspiration as they all seem really lovely.
First off, a cup of tea, some breakfast and my insulin. Hope you all have a brilliant day whatever you are up to, take care xx14 -
Morning folks.Camelot - hope that you have a lovely time with the DGC, they'll enjoy the cake I'm sure.TA - did you make the usual for tea? 😀 Poor Sparkle.Yesterday I had a sort of pootling round the house kind of day, even had a snooze on the sofa at one point. I lit the stove despite having the front door open and really enjoyed having it on.A friend called in on her way home from walking the dog, she was a really good help at giving me clear thinking about some things. Then I pulled out all the table linen I'd stowed in the garden barn and we went through it all. She was happy to take three or four pieces, the rest I sorted into some for me to keep, some too tea stained to use, some which I'll offer to family members and finally a pile for the CS. I'm so chuffed that I faced the emotional challenge and beat it into submission - with help. If she hadn't been so encouraging all that stuff would have lingered in storage for ever. 😀
From the comfort of my chair in front of the fire I lined up two neighbours to install my new stove and disposal of the current one. It'll be another few weeks until the new one arrives but I like my ducks to be all lined up, standing to attention and ready for action. As for today, again no idea. I'll be talking to my SIL in Oz shortly after which I'll decide. There's plenty of food in the fridge to last me until tomorrow or even Sunday so no need to go shopping today. I've a parcel to send back to Amazon but that can wait until Monday.I'm thinking about our missing and poorlies. Happy Friday to all.13 -
Gers dare I mention making anything else!! X"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13

Morning all; dull here again.
I have a small load of washing in the machine; thought best to do it today as the forecast for tomorrow isn't good.
Today we are having lunch at a local garden centre as DH has found a loyalty card for them in his wallet with some money still on it. This evening is also Food Truck Friday here; a newish monthly venture where we have about 6 local takeaway food vans visit one of the car parks. Looks like a good choice; not your usual type of thing, so we'll wander up about 6pm and see what's on offer.
Hope it does stay dry as I'm meeting up with 3 friends to play tunes in the meadow near my house. We all bring chairs, sit in a small circle and take it in turn to start a tune.
A second cup of tea is calling now so have a good day everyone.13 -
Morning all, a brighter start after endless rain this week.Hopefully DH won't get rained off today! I've got a few admin jobs that need doing this morning, and a general tidy. I'm contemplating cleaning the rugs with the carpet cleaner, they look really muckyI finished off sorting my craft stuff yesterday afternoon so it's easier to access, I'll probably still forget where certain items are. I moved a big black amplifier DH put at the side of my desk months ago which has hindered me- I put it next to his wardrobe and just moved things up a bit- he never even noticed! until I mentioned it a couple of days after. A bit like the big box of wiring and stuff slap bang in the middle of my kitchen worktop all week
.That can be moved today, it's been there long enough!
I shall be raiding the freezer for tea, we had sausage and mash last night, sausages we got from the farmers market last weekend.Take care all, I'm going to get cracking:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10 -
Morning all Dog walked and cup of tea in hand,I am off to the hairdresser today hopefully it will all go well as its a new one to me unfortunately as we are a london borough they charge London prices so it better be good . We are collecting DD2's dog tomorrow morning and dropping her at the airport so not sure i will be on for the next few days as she is a very energetic 1year old doberman very loving but mad as a box of frogs .
Hugs to all the poorlies and those looking after them have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe xSlava Ukraini10 -
Morning all
Dull and overcasr here this morning but the sun is due out later, no plans for today which is bliss ! I will take the dogs out this morning for a good long walk.
I had my waxing yesterdaywas painfull and is now very sore with a red rash, the lady assured me it would go down after a couple of days. I bought three pairs of trousers for holiday and got all the toilitries ect, I need to order euros today and sort out insurance, I will also order a map of the island as we like to go off on quad bikes and explore off the beaten track. Bella the covid tests are so expensive but Ive found quite a good deal.
Need to empty the dw this morning and tidy and hoover through and then maybe a rest later as I had a bad night.
Taff the electrolsis is painful but hopefully worth it in the long run xx
Camelot enjoy having the DGC for the weekend.
It would have been my dear dads Birthday today, I still miss him so much, will raise a glass of something to him tonight.
Have good days all xx10
