ECO Free Boiler - any recommendations

My 91 year old grandma hs just bought a new bungalow that has an old baxi boiler in that’s 35+ years old and needs replacing.

She is eligible for the boiler replacement scheme… but there seems a lot of independent vendors and the reviews don’t look great.

We did have someone out after filling in an online form, but they only do ‘all or nothing’ and the house didn’t need under floor insulation.

please let me know if anyone has used the service and has a recommendation. She is based in Lancashire

My daughter had a new Ideal boiler fitted by her energy supplier under one of these Schemes. The process of fitting the boiler went very well and the work was completed in a day.

 However, a note of caution. Putting a new boiler onto an old radiator system carries significant risk unless the system is cleaned or flushed through first to remove all the accumulated debris. This is not done under the Scheme although it would seem that homeowner can elect to have a filter fitted. The risk of not having this done is that the new boiler can become blocked with radiator sludge which is not covered by the boiler warranty.
