C&G invest direct tracking account

I have come across an old account from C&G direct invest that I opened in 1997 but then forgot about. I contacted Lloyd's but they said it was not with them. I then contacted TSB and again they said the account was not with them. Does anyone know who took ownership of C&G direct invest or can point me in a direction to find out how to recover my money. Really hope someone can help

I assume that was a savings account.   History of C&G here
Did you have a passbook and if so are you sure you didn't draw out your savings, possibly after losing the book so it wasn't updated.  If not, then you may need to contact Lloyds and TSB again.
