Return to UK Covid test

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help.

I’m going to travelling to Budapest from the UK for a weekend at the start of September. As well as a PCR test before I go (as per Hungary’s rules) and the Day 2 PCR test when I get back, I obviously also need to do a LFT within 72 hours of flying back to the UK. Given that I’m not actually going to be there for more than 72 hours, is there anything stopping me from taking the test before I fly out there? Or would that get rejected as the result would be registered before the date of my outbound flight?

Yes that is fine - this is from Gov website 

“Taking your test in the UK before travel

If you are returning to the UK within 3 days, you can use the result of a COVID-19 test that you take in the UKbefore you travel. You must use a private test provider for the test and not an NHS test.

The service on which you will arrive back in the UK must set off for the UK within 3 days of when you took the test. “

Also if you PCR test to go to Hungary is taken within that time frame you can use that instead.
