Entitlement to benefits
Hugsy
I am about to adopt a child and will lose the foster payment I currently get not to work. The Benefit office will not tell me what I am entitled to and I have contacted Citizens Advice but got no response. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Unless you already claim tax credits then the only other benefits would be Universal Credit and child benefit. Whether you qualify for Universal Credit will depend on your circumstances. If you live with a partner you claim as a couple. If you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 you'll be excluded from claiming. Use a benefits calculator to check entitlement. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator/Intro/Home?cid=4d6bf422-391d-4d91-bd2f-c6988278171cDetails of child benefit here. https://www.gov.uk/child-benefit/how-to-claim for the eldest child this pays £21.15 per week and £14 per week for each additional child.Edit to add.. when you say the "benefit office" if you mean DWP then they are not there to give benefits advice.
