Yes, if you're no longer receiving carers allowance you should report the changes onto your journal and then you won't have any deductions for the carers allowance.
  • Thanks Poppy,
My daughter and mys3lf go halves so I am losing out really, and now her daughter is older she can take over.
    Thanks again for your reply.

Not sure what you mean by this. Is the carers element of UC added to the maximum UC entitlement? They don't automatically add this and there's no need to claim Carers allowance to be eligible for the carers element.
  • Hi Poppy,
    Sorry for the confusion.
I receive the Carers but I give my Daughter half, even though I have full amount deducted.
My Granddaughter is old enough to take over.
Will UC then give me that amount back the6 deduct?.
    Thankyou again.

Yes, as previously advised here ^^
  • Thanks Poppy.
I am still receiving Carers, so once I stop I will get the amount back off UC?.
    Sorry for coming across stupid,
Just had 2 ops on my face and think GA wearing off,.
I was told last year after another face op to claim for PIP but got refused.
    Thanks again Poppy.

If you're no longer a carer then you need to ring carers allowance and report the changes. Once it stops then report the changes onto your journal and the amount will then be added back onto your maximum entitlement.

Are you tallking about Carers Allowance or the carers element of UC?

You will lose both once you declare the change and UC will only replace the Carers Allowance that is being deducted. You will lose the carers element of UC in full.

They mention the money that's"lost" so i took it as carers allowance because that's deducted in full from UC.
OP if you're also claiming the carers element in with your UC then once you report you're no lponger caring for the person then you will also lose this element.
