Very old Tax Credit Overpayment help

Hi,
I received a letter from a tax credit office stating that I was overpaid in 2013 and they will be in contact with me to arrange recovery ?
I dont recall ever receiving an overpayment of any tax credit and certainly cant remember dating back to 2013.
Can anyone advise what I can do and how to dispute this ?
No one has been in contact with me regards this issue until now 8yrs later - Can they even do that after so long ?
I certainly need a proof of this debt if it is owed and a breakdown.
The numbers on the letter are all just payment lines and the only helpline there is just leaves me on hold.
Thank in advance

You would have received an award notice at the time with all the details on it. If you've moved house since 2013 and didn't tell them then this is likely why you didn't receive anything. They are catching up with those that owe money from as far back as 12 years ago.Although it's been 8 years they can still chase you for any debt that's owed. You can make a sugbject access request for any information they hold about you and all details should be in that. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/hmrc-subject-access-requestI do believe you're too late to dispute this now.
