Washing is coming out smelling musty

  • Ok, if it's only some clothes that are smelling, then it sounds like the problem is with the clothes, not the washing machine.

After many years of living in hot, tropical countries, I can attest that after time, your sweat soaks into thicker parts of clothing that are next to your skin (such as waistbands, or bras) day after day, and even washing won't get it out.  You could try laundry sanitiser followed by a boil wash on the affected items only, but it's likely you either have to live with the smell, or throw the clothes out.

Correct it's definitely not the machine.

Today I used Dettol Antibacterial Sanitizer, I also put it on the Intensive wash, the trousers came out smelling nice, I don't know if it was the dettol or that I put them on the Intensive wash but the trousers came out shiny like new. I'm going to use the dettol a couple more times then do without it and see if it's got rid of smell.
