Is the London Congestion Charge lawful?
When driving into London last week, I noticed that all the signs still say that the congestion charge ends at 6pm Mon-Fri, however, it's now been extended to 10pm 7 days a week. If you are charged after 6pm or worse still fined, would the fine be enforceable? I'm curious because I can't think of any other occasion when if the road traffic sign is incorrect than charges can be enforced.

I would think you have a good case if you can prove the signage stated different hours from the penalty and that was the route you drove in. I wouldn't have a clue what the hours were and would rely on signs.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Yes, that seems to suggest that they have all been changed, but I can categorically state that (as of 14/08/2021) they have not. I have autopay set up for the zone and can't be bother to spend time on it for £15 - but had I been fined I would have. I think that with a photo of the incorrect signage, you'd have a very strong case to appeal it.AdrianC said:1
