Money saving on blinds

Hi
Currently in the process of refurbishing a house. Doing it on a pretty tight budget at the minute. The windows are a good 25 years old and need replacing. So they’re going to be done. The soft furnishings inside are well past their best too. I’ve looked at the online suppliers having used blinds2go in the past. But I’m trying to avoid spending a large sum again. I’m expecting blinds2go will come out at about £1,000 for the full set of blinds for the house. There are 11 windows in total.

Has anyone come up with some unique money saving ideas around this? Had a quick search but just found complaints about some companies.
Many thanks

What type of blinds are you after ?
There is plenty of cheap ways of doing it from stick on blinds in ikea and wilkos to plastic slat blinds in b&m and amazon.
Ive had both types before now and realistically I would just get the professional blinds done, Maybe look around for a local company for cheaper options.0 -
Yeah I’m thinking I may have to go fit a local company but have supply only. Looking at slat blinds downstairs and Roman blinds upstairs. Putting them up isn’t an issue but having the right size is.Monsternextdoor said:What type of blinds are you after ?

Forget blinds if you have money-saving in mind. Instead, keep an eye out for good curtains in your local chazzers, pairs can be had for single figures.
That said I don't think £1k on a full set of blinds for 11 windows is a great deal, but it can wait until the time is right. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.1 -
Made mine. They now have tapes and headders that make it quick and easy to do.
Some curtains from charity shops, 1 pair brand new another Laura Ashley double width 84inches long 12 pounds, immaculate.
But that takes time unlike ordering. Depends which you have more or less of.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Sounds like a lot but 2 of the windows are over 2 metres wide. So they’re quite big sets. Not a bad shout on curtains though. Trying to keep it modern though. Imagine most charity shop curtains won’t be?Rosa_Damascena said:Forget blinds if you have money-saving in mind. Wow that is cheap. I’ll have to start checking them out. Is it common to get brand new curtains in charity shops?twopenny said:Made mine. They now have tapes and headders that make it quick and easy to do.

Keep an open mind and be pleasantly surprised, there are 90" curtain sets out there to be had for <£10 (and I live in an expensive part of the world). Also remind yourself its not forever, once you can afford the blinds you absolutely have your heart set on you can donate the curtains straight back to the chazzer.JamesN said:

Agree with Rosa there are some brand new curtains at amazing prices in local charity shops. I was recently looking at a pair 90x90 with eyelet tops for 20 pound.
I never buy new.0 -
Also what about using plain voile0

I make mine and they are better than some I had made years ago by John Lewis made-to-measure. I followed the free videos on this site https://www.sew-helpful.com/roman-blind-interlined-videopasscode.php and read the instructions until I knew what to do. Visitors always ask where I had them made - they are fully interlined and sit beautifully.0
