Hello everyone,
I am an Independent Living Manager and I have a flat with my job. The flats here have a complex meter (4 readings). my bills (no heating) are working out about £100 a month. I am here on my own and only Mon-Fri, this seems astronomical on talking to residents it seems the norm. Is there anything I can do? Thank you for your replies in advance

Much more info is needed.  Are you referring to electricity bills? What fuel(s) and appliances do you use for heating, hot water and cooking?  Are the bills estimated or actual meter readings?  What is the tariff, the kWh rates and the standing charge?
With so little info there's not much advice that can be given.
This is the forum for LPG, Heating Oil, Solid & Other Fuels (very common mistake, the site is very badly laid out).  It's a bit of a backwater: you'll get more replies if you post in Energy.

What do you mean by the term 'complex meter'?

What do the 4 readings relate to?

Who is your supplier, and what tariff are you on?

What type of heating do you have if your bills do not cover heating? How is that paid for?

Why do you think £100 per month is astronomical?
Surely, if the tenants are paying similar, and assuming they live in a similar type of property to you, then it sounds quite average.

The average UK household energy bill is about £1200 per year, so again £100 per month seems about average.

In an ideal world, what would you like to do?

Thank you for your replies in advance

A copmpex meter is defined by the market as anything beyond 1 rate or e7. (so include 2 rates for example e10 (some areas or more than 2 rates) and RHT (a second not on all the time meter).

4 rate will be something like the old NEED area super tarrif. (there is similar in a few other areas and some are 3 rate as there is an error rate which should not move!).

£100 sounds fine for an all electric flat (which is should be). Electric is expensive. (£100 right now for a months use is ridiculous but over teh year £1200 seems fine, yes it would be the same for a elec/gas 3/4 bed, but hey electric heating/showers).

Also ask for thread to be moved to the right place rather than making a new one.

What can you do? Remove the heating and get on a standard tarrif, (this will not be in your landlords inrterest if rented and tehy will expect you to pay undo it when you leave).

Are you confusing your Direct Debit payments amounts with your bills?  They are not the same, especially if the readings are estimated.
