Firmware conversion factor

It relates to a Secure Liberty EG4v 11 gas meter.
Anyone know what this factor is, and what function it performs?

Probably best addressed to the manufacturer - Secure Meters - sales_uk@securemeters.com

But don't be surprised to get an answer - trade secret!

Probably for converting m3 to kWh.
The old SMETS1 meters would report the half-hour data in kWh, not just used for the IHD display.

To answer my own question, it's purpose is to provide a kWh display on the screen of the aforementioned gas meter.
I was able to compute the value of the Firmware conversion factor for the meter in use in my property.
Very useful for converting an IHD kWh gas figure back to the underlying m³ gas reading.
Firmware updates are available but presumably only if there is no change away from the original installing supplier. I have received useful info from Secure technical services.

Very useful for converting an IHD kWh gas figure back to the underlying m³ gas reading.

If you dig into the menus a little most IHDs will give you the m³ index reading as well.

  • Unfortunately after trying for almost a year, I still can't access anything other than a kWh display, for both gas and electricity, on this particular IHD

It sounds like you might have the same setup as me, which uses this touch screen IHD:
If so, then you are right - after several years of ownership, I have never found the m3 readings on this IHD either.  I resort to pressing 9 on the meter to scroll through the kWh and m3 readings.

That's a shame, if it was there to be found I'd expect it to be via the 'menu' button and something like 'meter details', but if it isn't there then not much you can do.

Edit: did a quick Google, and no, you can't get a gas meter reading from the Pipit 500.
There is a cumulative reading which should be close to or the same as your electricity meter, but it is no help for gas as it is just in kWh, not m3

Can convert back to m3 of course as a guide ....
