Are any energy suppliers rolling out smart meters?

Hello,

My mother is poorly and struggles to take manual Gas & Elec meter readings. She has contacted her energy supplier (E-ON) to request a smart meter but they are not installing them due to COVID.

She lives in central Scotland and was wondering if anyone had recently requested and got smart meter successfully installed? If anyone could let me know that would be appreciated and I can switch her to a supplier who is actively rolling them out.

Any help appreciated! Thanks

Pretty much all the major supppliers are installing smart meters, I'm surprised that EON say they aren't. Perhaps she could ask again, or you could call on her behalf?
We’re continuing to undertake contactless smart meter installations for our customers, where possible. We continue to follow latest guidance at all times. If you have an appointment scheduled during the lockdown period, this can go ahead as planned.
I had mine installed by EDF a month or so ago.
If she's long-term poorly she can ask to be added to the Priority Services Register and EON might send someone out to read the meters on her behalf?

Much appreciated thank-you!! I shall check out EDF!

Sorry should have said don't want the Priority Services Register - there have been so many bogus workmen recently in the area and she isn't savvy enough to know a valid one from a not valid one, passwords etc.

EDF won't stop nagging me to have a smart meter installed at the moment.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Yeah, quick to get them installed but then take a whole month to commission them
